The lawsuit claims a variety of grievances, including that the app’s algorithm encourages hazardous content, permits users who are underage, and fails to inform users or their guardians of TikTok’s addictive nature. The lawsuit asks for specific damages.

The family of Joshua launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover his medical costs. Joshua, however, went away after receiving life support for 19 days.

In Relation to The Blackout Challenge, What Has Tik Tok Said?

Despite TikTok’s condemnation of the “challenge” following a fatal incident in 2021, they asserted that they had not discovered any evidence of content on their site.

According to a statement from TikTok provided to Newsweek, the company “does not allow anything that supports, promotes, or glorifies hazardous behavior that may cause injury, and our staff diligently works to find and remove content that violates our policy.

Even while we have not yet found any evidence of anything on our platform that would have motivated such an incident off-platform, we will continue to constantly monitor as part of our continued commitment to keep our community safe.

India Bans the Use of Tik Tok

Since 2020, TikTok, which had enjoyed popularity in India and has ties to China, has been outlawed there.

In addition to TikTok, the Indian government has outlawed more than 50 Chinese mobile applications, including well-known social media sites like Helo and WeChat, to combat the threat that these programs pose to the sovereignty and security of the nation.

The Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 in conjunction with Section 69A of the Information Technology Act 2000, which was the legal basis for the ban, were used to impose it.
