Since her birth on June 23, 1972, American actress, Selma Blair Beitner has been active in the industry. Before her breakthrough in Brown’s Requiem, she appeared in a number of films and on television (1998). Her breakout roles as Zoe Bean on the WB sitcom Zoe, Duncan, Jack, and Jane (1999–2000) and Cecile Caldwell in the cult film Cruel Intentions helped launch her career (1999). With her depiction as Liz Sherman in the blockbuster fantasy flicks Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2006), she rose to international recognition and starred in a string of successful comedies (2008).
Early Life
On June 23, 1972, in Southfield, Michigan, Selma Blair was born Selma Blair Beitner. Her Jewish family included her judge mother, Molly, attorney father, Elliot, and their three older daughters, Elizabeth, Marie, and Katherine; Elliot died in 2012. After her parents split when she was 23, Selma legally adopted her stepfather’s surname and afterwards adopted the Blair surname. She received her education at Hillel Day School and Cranbrook Kingswood before enrolling in the photography programme at Kalamazoo College.
After performing in “The Little Theater of the Green Goose” at Kalamazoo College, Selma moved to New York City at age 20 to study acting at NYU and live in the Salvation Army’s housing programme while taking classes at the Stonestreet Screen Acting Workshop, Stella Adler Conservatory, and the Column Theatre. She began her education at New York University before transferring to Michigan, where she earned her degree with honours in 1994. Blair got a BA in psychology and a BFA in photography, with a concentration in English as a secondary subject. As soon as she finished college, she headed straight back to the Big Apple.

Career
After Selma went on 75 auditions and was spotted by her first agent in a New York City acting class, she was cast in a TV ad for a Virginia theatre and became a member of the Screen Actors Guild. Blair’s first feature was 1996’s “The Broccoli Theory,” and she first appeared on television in a 1995 episode of Nickelodeon’s “The Adventures of Pete & Pete.”
She had an unnamed appearance on “The Dana Carvey Show” and appeared in the Kids in the Hall film “Brain Candy” that same year. In 1997, Selma starred in three films: “In & Out” alongside Kevin Kline, “Strong Island Boys,” and “Scream 2,” in which she was overheard on the phone with Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character Blair sharing an MTV Movie Award alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon, and Ryan Phillippe for their work in the 1999 film “Cruel Intentions.” She also portrayed Zoe Bean on the WB sitcom “Zoe, Duncan, Jack, and Jane,” which premiered the same year (1999).

Numbness. Problems with seeing clearly. Constant discomfort and fatigue that wouldn’t go away. Uneven footing; loss of equilibrium. Actress Selma Blair experienced the onset of her symptoms at an early age. She consulted numerous medical professionals over the course of several years. Depression, worry, tiredness, hormonal imbalances, and starvation were all considered potential causes of her symptoms. People argued that she was making things up in her mind. The actress from “Cruel Intentions” and “Legally Blonde” was relieved to receive a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 2018.
In her recently released memoir, “Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up,” Blair says, “When Dr Berkley delivered the words, ‘You have MS,’ I felt an electric surge of feeling.”
I compared it to the experience of giving birth. This unveiling. The release it provided was therapeutic. But the relief I felt was the strongest emotion of all.

Multiple Sclerosis: What Is It?
To put it simply, multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological disorder. Myelin is the sheath that surrounds and protects your brain and spinal cord nerves, and it is under attack from your immune system. Lesions, or scars, form as a result of the damage over time. Injuries like these prevent the brain from sending proper signals to the rest of the body.
Over time, the disease might damage nerve fibres as a result of this disruption. When this occurs, normal bodily motion and function become impossible.
Those with multiple sclerosis might expect a wide range of symptoms. Unpredictability is a hallmark of this. Its effects can vary from person to person and include numbness, tingling, mood swings, memory loss, discomfort, exhaustion, blindness, or paralysis.
The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation estimates that almost 1 million U.S. citizens are living with MS. Given how challenging it is to identify, however, estimates remain uncertain.

Real Estate
Selma invested $645,000. on a small house in West Hollywood, California, in 2001. In 2005, she made a profit of $1.2 million on the sale of that house. She purchased a new home in the area at about the same time for $1.3 million and resold the old one the following year for $1.7 million.
