She earned a master’s degree in Russian studies from Russia’s Herzen State Pedagogical University.

Desjardins has received several awards from the Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association, including a Peabody Award for CNN’s coverage of the 2008 election and a Sigma Delta Chi award for national breaking news for coverage of the Haiti catastrophe.
